Guest guest
Hello everyone: After reading a post about yeast I realized I've made all the possible mistakes! To start with I haven't given my daughter probiotics for a reasonable amount of time. Her stools were so messy that I was always afraid to try anything new for every time I did she had diarrhea or soft stools and changes in her behavior. I gave her several supplements for probably a month and since she started to show regression, I stopped all of them and she's now having beautiful well formed stools and seems to be happier. She has her days when she gets very hyper and laughs for no reason, runs and screams most of the time and spins around. What really worries me is that she has those dark circles around her eyes and have been there since I can remember. She's been on the SCD for 9 months and I've been avoiding high salycilates foods for 3 months. Her diet is pretty basic and the only supplements she's taking are CLO and fish oil. I'm using coconut oil to cook her food and lots of garlic in her chicken broth. I plan to give her 1/2 cup of yogurt a day since she is tolerating more than a tbsp of it. I have the feeling that the probiotics could help with the dark circles under her eyes through balancing the gut's flora to help her body's detox paths work better. I'm going to try the tips that Patti gave in her post to control yeast. I don't want to give prescribed unti fungal anymore because she had diarrhea and her stools were a mess for a while after she stopped taking the Diflucan. She took it for a month. My question is, shuold I start from scratch and have 1 or 2 days of the intro diet and start the probiotics after that or is it ok to start right away? I have at home SCDophilus and lyosan probiotics and make yogurt with the yogurt starter from yogourmet. Which one would be the best option to start with? how much for a 4yo? (She'll turn 4 next saturday. I can believe she's 4 now!) I thank you so very much for your help. I know I should have done this before but better latter than never, right? Guest guest
Ximena, Just wanted to share with you that I started my daughter on probiotics last january when she had a UTI and just never stopped giving them to her (I guess it was just intuition) and never really though too much of it. Then a few weeks ago I had to take her off of them to do a stool test - and she TOTALLY regressed. And came right back to " normal " when I started giving them to her. > > Hello everyone: > After reading a post about yeast I realized I've made all the possible mistakes! > To start with I haven't given my daughter probiotics for a reasonable amount of time. Guest guest
Thank you Sheila. You didn't say anything about which the best option is between Lyosan and SCDophilus so, I'm going to assume any of them is ok. Thanks again for your help. Guest guest
Hi Ximena, If you are using cow milk to make yogurt either probiotic should be fine. If you have trouble with the SCdophilus try the Lyosan since it will be closer to the yogurt strain that she is doing well with. If you are using goat milk than start the SCDophilus. I make yogurt with the Progurt and the Lysosan yogurt starter - this allows me to get L. acidophilus and L . casei. You might want to consider this to try later.
