Guest guest
This is day 8 on the diet for my son and we already fell off the wagon with what I had to send to school for his lunch and snack today. If he was home, it wouldn't be a problem but sending stuff in is tough. For instance, they want " motivator " food to keep there for working with him. We had been using Fritos or GFCF cookies. Nothing we can do right now will work. Can I jump ahead and try the nut flour with him? It would give me so many more options for things that can go to school with him. Thank you! Guest guest
Hi, , When someone else asked about " motivating foods " (ABA reinforcers), I compliled some ideas here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/message/69440 Also you could do Knox blocks or carrot curls/chips. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Thanks! I will try the squash buttons. He won't touch a carrot unless it is to move it farther away from him. Are the chips just baked carrots? Maybe he didn't like the carrot muffins because they were too eggy. There is so much trial and error with what he will like which stinks because then you have days like today where he gets sent to school with illegal foods when we were doing so good. Thanks again! -------------- Original message -------------- Hi, , When someone else asked about " motivating foods " (ABA reinforcers), I compliled some ideas here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/message/69440 Also you could do Knox blocks or carrot curls/chips. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
The Carrot Curls are made with a vegetable peeler. BTVC says to deep fry in oil, but I think some people bake them. If you search old posts http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/messages?o=1 I know there are some tips for having them come out crunchy. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Thanks, I had steamed them and cut them into semicircles and he wouldn't even try them. We may do better with crunchy. -------------- Original message -------------- The Carrot Curls are made with a vegetable peeler. BTVC says to deep fry in oil, but I think some people bake them. Guest guest
-- we are pretty new to the diet (only about 6 weeks) but it is my understanding that it can be months before the nut flours can be added for many kids (sometimes even longer) so I would hazard to guess that day 8 is way too soon. Do you think nut butter muffins might work -- nut butter can usually be added sooner than the flour, again, day 8 is likely too soon but we added these in a couple of weeks ago using homemade almond butter. You can even make them in little mini muffin sizes (and sneak extra veggies in).
