Hi everyone,

I've been just reading posts now for a while but would like to know how

many of you have chronic pancreatitis because of Pancreas Divisum. What

procedures have you had? Has anything helped? My daughter, 23 years

old, started having pancreatitis out of the blue last March. She's had

5 attacks in 7 months. In Sept. she had a stent put in her minor

papilla..the doc said it was a very difficult procedure because the

papilla was so tight. As a result she had pancreatitis. In Oct. he

removed the stent after doing a sphincterotomy and didn't leave in a

temp stent as he felt the duct was wide open. He said we should just

watch her and keep our fingers crossed. Well last

week ...wham ...another attack. Her doc that did the stenting (he's in

Houston) wants to do " long term " stenting (up to a year, changing out

every 3 months). Her Doc here (in Austin) seems hesitant to do

anything. We're completely confused and upset about not knowing what to

do. Any advice??????????????

Thanks all,

I have Chronic Pancreatitis from pancreas divisum. After four

different ERCP's, two of which were stent placements, they had to stop

because of the post-ERCP acute pancreatitis attacks. I also have other

complications from a previous operation and reconstruction for removal

of a choledochal cyst(biliary tract cyst). As it stands right now I am

a insulin dependent diabetic from chronic pancreatitis and am long

term pain management with enzyme replacement.

This is just my diagnoses. I hope you daughter's diagnoses is early

enough that they will be able help her better.
