Hi,

I have pancreas divism and have had progressive stenting to stretch the

narrowed ducts in hopes of keeping them open. I double up in pain and start

vomiting as soon as it clogs. I had the progressive stenting done by Dr.

Lehman, Indianapolis, IN and I am still open and flowing good. In January of

2004 I went down and he placed one stent in. He had a tough time getting it in

because it was so tight. He used a balloon to stretch it open better. I had a

pretty good flair. He told me to make an appointment to have it changed in 6-8

weeks. I decided on 8 weeks, figured the longer it is in, the more it will

stretch. I started having pretty bad pain after about 5 weeks but I made it to

my 8 weeks. The single stent had clogged up. I went back and he put 2 stents in

this time. This time no flair at all and the stents didn't clog up. I went 8

weeks later and he put 3 stents in, further stretching my ducts. Again no flair

and they stayed open. The last stent was pulled in July 2004. My

Univ of Chicago GI endoscopist pulled the stents at the end to save me a trip

to Indy. It was fine with Dr. L. I am eating absolutely everything, with zero

pain and no nausea at all. I also found out I have Hepetitis C recently. I

finally know the why's of my ducts having problems after so many years of being

perfectly fine. It all started so quickly. Whammo it's here. I hope this

answers your questions about progressive stenting. If you need any more info

just let me know.
