Guest guest
Please, someone help me figure out how to help my poor little son! has seizures and autism and is 9. There has never been any medical help for the seizures. We started the diet in May without the yogurt and we saw amazing things. Better things than we have seen since we restarted the diet in early september. My sister insisted on sending him to an " amazing " chiropractor which we did. regressed horribly and we quit and restarted the diet in september. We have had some gains, we have seen his stool firm up and then turn mushy. I will not quit the diet. If it works for others, it will work for my son. Last night around 9:00 he started having muscle spasms, his legs were twisted. He has alot of them and then he started having grand mals. We gave him charcoal, which didn't help. We haven't seen his grand mals this severe in years. It was horrible. I thought we might lose him. You could hear rattling in his lungs even though we had him on his side. years ago, this would have been a trip to the emergency room where they would huve drugged him and it wouldn't have stopped the siezures. By 2:00 a.m. my husband rememeberd that the last dr said to give calcium every 1/2 hour til the seizures stopped. We threw in a little magnesium with the first dose and after the second dose they stopped. We went to bed at 4:00. This little guy is so sweet. He has suffered so much through the years and yet he'll just smile at you with the most beautitul smile that melts your heart. His life is heartbreaking. We want to help so much but it seems like we fail. I will be giving him an epsom salt bath this morning, I have been pretty much been doing this everyday. We cannot have tonight be a repeat of last night. He can't handle it and we can't either. I need to figure out what to feed him right away. There is not much left. Yesterday I gave him salmon because the chicken, I discovered was making him a monster. This was all of a sudden, he had been fine with the chicken. Later I can figure out which chicken source because I started using a second source. Yesterday I also increased his CLO from 1/4 tsp to 1/2 tsp. He had been on that one week. These are the foods that he can have and that we have tried. Carrots no eggs no grape juice no gelatin no chicken unsure beef unsure acorn and butternut squash no apples no bananas unsure honey no green beans YES spinach no All the food is pureed, peeled and cooked. Beans are the only thing we are sure of. Some of the food caused wild aggressive behavior, some loose stools. I had restarted the intro 1 1/2 weeks ago and I was determined to go slow, which I have. I restarted the intro while leaving in the 2 cups of dripped yogurt a day. Maybe he can't have it. I didn't want to stop it cuz it took us so long to get up there with it. Should I discontinue the yogurt and see what happens? Should I feed him beans and chicken today? I don't know what the chicken will do. Sometimes his aggressive behavior borders on hysteria. Why isn't his stomach healing? Or is it healing? Is there something else going on? Are there any tests I should have done for him? Please please please someone help us. jo
Guest guest
jo, I hope that others can give more help. I am not familiar with seizures. Part of what you might be experiencing might be die off symptoms. Have you tried green tea for die off symptoms? Mimi
Guest guest
Jo, I am brand new here, but I do know that magnesium is a good call for any kind of spasm. I take it for insomnia. My 10yo, who is on behavior meds, gets one every morning to combat aggression. If your son is getting yogurt daily, he may have enough calcium already, but the calcium/magnesium ratio is important. Is he very ticklish? That can be a sign of a magnesium deficiency. From what I've read, magnesium deficiency is rampant in this country. I'm so sorry for your scare last night--that must've been awful. How are things going today? Guest guest
Hi I have a 10 yr old---- he has autism and has suffered also for 9 1/2 years with severe stomach problems, some days fine...others terribly painful. We are on day 15. He has " attacks " of aggression... fine, then WHAM! Slamming doors, throwing xmas ornament boxess down the stairs... dug nails into my face once when caught me off guard. He has thrown up twice recently. His sleep is horrid...he wakes up in pain... 2-4am every night. I am a zombie...and all I do is help him get thru this and start the diet,,, and try to be a sort of mom to 2 other kids... and somewhere.. my laundry and christmas crap to do is waiting....and I am just putting it all off until things lighten up. He has been unable to attend school since we started... but I must add... he was in an ACUTE point when I started the diet... he had had a severe time after a bad reaction to me giving him fluoride (as per my doc and dentist.. stupid me)... rashes all over and stomach went horribly nuts... and two months of hell later, here I am... This is what I think: I think he is having terrible die-off. He was a sugar carb junkie with a history of lots of antibiotics (only til age 3- now ten-- but that was enough), shots triggered reflux at 2 months of age, which is when his stomach died. I think the buggers are sending ammonia and other crap into his body to make him go get his carbs. I think he is getting a terrible urinary tract infection (pediatrician called it URETHRITIS - a boy version of UTI, not detected reliably with urinalysis, but still very pain, swelling, etc. usually resulting from very acidic toxic urine )... his peeing is sometimes spotty... he is now wetting the bed every night (did not when well) and was not violent when well... I give him: - up to 3 epson salt baths a day now... depending on need... - watermelon (a big slice, pureed and strained and put in huge 60cc syringes usually 3-6 at a time) and do that every time he is freaking out... - pure cranberry juice. - herbal remedies for UTI and stomach healing - charcoal and when a little doesn't work, I give a lot. All these things take him from a crazed boy with wild red eyes trying to hurt me... to my sweet boy saying " thank you for helping me " and signing as he says... sometimes, he bursts into tears... This is very hard.. but 10 years of his pain has been hard to... if this can 1-cure his painful stomach and 2- take away his painful chronic UTI infections.... it is so worth it to me.. so I try to be very strong and say... it's like giving a diabetic child insulin... you don't stop cause the needle hurts. (I talk to myself alot... who else wants to listen?) well... don't know if this helps anyone else...and I am not threw it even closely... it is 750 am..and I've been changing sheets, made a turkey (cause he likes that meat (but only since diet--yeah!! he eats it 2-3 meals a day!! and it's good for beginners), gave him about 1/2 a whole watermelon, 8 charcoal capsules, he threw up, wet the bed... washing sheets, a throw rug (not it that order)... and finally got him back to sleep (thank god)... up since 3am... only went DOWN at 11pm. (and it's been like this pretty damn consistently since diet..) I am being tested... how long can I keep my hand in the fire? Will the world end if xmas cards are not sent? If the bathroom isn't cleaned? If the laundry never makes it to the drawers? I don't know.. but I am trying to save his life. well, gotta go get my 5 yr old up for kindergarten and try to be a normal mom. Good luck Anyone have any help to suggest to ME, feel free. a crazed mom ... sleep deprived and dangerous Desperate plea for help! Long, but please read! Guest guest
Hi I so totally understand what you are going through. We have no choice but to keep going. If we don't do it for our children, who will? At least you are on the right path. You sound like a wonderful loving mother and your children are lucky to have you. I will remember you in my prayers. Is there something wonderful about watermelon that I am missing? Please let me know. It sounds like it might be something to help . I am always hesitant to use too much charcoal cuz it absorbs nutrients. Have a nice day . Sometimes when we feel like we can't go on, the load gets lightened. jo pecanbread , Barbera wrote: > > Hi > I have a 10 yr old---- he has autism and has suffered also for 9 1/2 years with severe stomach problems, some days fine...others terribly painful. Guest guest
, Hang in there!!! You are a great mom and your kids are very lucky to have you. Yes, sometimes we overlook our other family members but it is very much understandable why. Do not give up, keep going and I'm sure soon will start getting better. It does sound to me like die-off. My son is only 3 yrs 8 mos. but when I took away all of his junk food and started GFCF he went bonkers!!!! Then after 6 weeks I realized he needed a better diet and I put him on the SCD and bonkers AGAIN! very aggresive, very irritable, screaming and trantrumin. Finally after 3 weeks of SCD he is getting a little better. He wakes up happy and he is not as irritable as before. I don't know how long your boy will take, probably a little longer since he is older and had a much longer period of time with foods that were not good for him. But my point is, hang in there, HE WILL GET BETTER! Keep pushing and you will see. Good luck and keep us posted! Fina Desperate plea for help! Long, but please read!
