rotting bananas

Hi,

When the weather was warmer, we were buying bananas and eating them

as they became SCD ripe. The weather is cooler now and our bananas

still have green ends, not many spots, but are rotting on the inside.

Is anyone else having this problem? Can anyone give me any suggestions

as to how to get our expensive, organic bananas SCD ripe before they

need to get to the compost pile?

I have better luck with all the green going away when I buy bananas

that have some yellow on them. If I buy a bunch that are totally

green, sometimes they never really get a true yellow color. When a

banana has lots of spots, but still has green on the stem, we go ahead

and eat it. Since yours aren't showing many spots, could you have a

non-SCDer taste one when the spots start to appear and assess the

ripeness that way? Bananas have a different taste when they are ripe.

Elaine said that a little green on the banana is okay as long as it has

lots of spots/freckles.

Are the bananas getting banged around a lot? - I find they can bruise

very easily.
