Hi, Vai,

I have not been in your situation, so I'm not certain what issues are

involved. I think that if meat repulses you, you should try getting

used to it before plunging into SCD because otherwise, you might not be

able to get yourself to eat enough food.

Why don't you make some SCD chicken soup? Try to find a source of

humanely raised chicken; that might help you with some of your issues.

When the soup is done and you've removed bones, etc., try pureeing the

whole thing, meat and all. The smooth texture might help make it

palatable to you.

I have no idea if I've suggested anything of value. I hope you get

other input. Welcome to the group.

Vai,

It will be hard for you, I am sure. Eggs should be

easy. The other stuff will be harder because SCD has

such a focus on natural food, and the cheapest natural

food still has bones in it.

I would say, if money is not an object right now, you

could start with bags of boneless skinless chicken

breasts. Check the labels for a kind without broth

added. You may find them less objectionable to work

with. I cook mine in large pyrex pans with chunks of

onion and peeled garlic cloves. You can put them in

the pan still frozen. A lot of water will cook out of

them so they should stay relatively juicy.

You can also make your own mayo. On the pecanbread.com

web site you should be able to find the " cooked " mayo

recipe. You can shred the chicken and add mayo if you

are OK with a chicken salad.

You can also hard boil eggs and make hard boiled egg

salad if you like.

I know a lot of people have trouble with red meat so

you could do without those if you want. Canned wild

salmon is good too. Don't buy anything else because it

is full of chemicals and mercury.

I'd say try out a few of these foods before going to

SCD, unless you are so desperately ill that you have

to start immediately. Really, in the beginning you can

get by with just eggs. If you are not on the autism

spectrum, dairy is OK if you tolerate it.

Thank you to all who responded to my question! You gave me some good

ideas to work my way around chicken soup.. Will keep working on

introducing some fish. Eggs can keep me good on protein for sometime.

Thank you.

Do you plan on remaining a vegetarian while on the diet or do you plan

on introducing some meat?

If you eat eggs and dairy the eggs and DCCC on the intro diet should

help. You can make the cheesecake recipe with eggs, DCCC and honey

that is in BTVC (in the cake section).
