Guest guest
Question: endoscopic ultrasound vs. ercp for diagnosis of cp. HHI . An ERCP and an EUS can be done at the same time provided the equipment is available. They are both done using an endoscope tht goes down your throat; through your stomach, duodenum and to the main panreatic duct. The EUS, the ultra sound will take pictures of the outside of the pancreatic organ, the muscle itself. It can detect, scarring, calicifications, fibrosis, puedocyst or other things that happen to the muscle itself. The ERCP goes in the same way but it will be able to enter themain panreatic duct and look to see if there are problems with the inside of the organ. It can tell if the sphincters are too tight, if the ducts are too narrow (stenosed) blocked, or dilated (stretched out) it can also check the side branches of the main panreatic to look for clubbing, which is when the side branches swell in spots. I hope this helps, (SC) >
