Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I have been reading all of the posts the past week or so and have a few questions to ask. I am very excited about the opportunity to " dance " with Dr. R. I have read the manual once and have started on it again. I am just starting the 12-step process and had a couple of questions. I submitted the online questionnaire about a week ago and have not heard anything. How long does that take? In the meantime, I am moving forward with the rest of the items. I have my doctor's appt. next week for my physical. I have not seen a doctor in over two years. I do have some medical history to report, but not much. How critical is it to have 5 yrs of history? Also, I after my doctor's appt. (and hopefully support) I will begin the processo of insurance approval. I currently have CIGNA and am not sure if it covers MGB. For those of you with CIGNA, what was your experience with CIGNA? Also, my BMI is 38. I do have some additional health problems, but am not sure how Dr. R or my insurance company will look at this. I read that someone had a smaller portion bypassed instead of the complete portion. I am not a full 100 pounds overweight. I am approximatly 85 - 90 pounds. Any advice on how to pursue this or overcome this obstacle? Therefore, I am thinking a smaller portion would be my best answer. I would love to hear from anyone that weighs/weighed in the 225 range OR who has a smaller portion bypassed. I am 5'6 " , 30 years old and have tried so many programs and diets, and prescription pills to lose weight, but no luck. I end up gaining it all back and then some within a few short months. I have gained approx. 80 pounds in the past 8 years. ANY HELP WOULD BE G REATLY APPRECIATED! I am looking forward to becoming a part of the MGB family! Guest guest
WELCOME SHERRY, I am new here also, and can't help you much with most of your questions. I too have CIGNA and have been warned that I may have a fight on my hands. I started by seeing my doctor after reading the manual once and my doctor of 4 years would NOT support this surgery. That was last week, so I fired him and got another doctor that would. I have a mammogram and a physical scheduled for this next week and after the physical, the doctor will write a letter for the necessity of this surgery for me. For each one of us, we all have the same goal...just have different things happen to us on the journey for those " dancing shoes. " There are many here with great ideas and support in the roller coaster ride...we " newbies " are about to begin. Please keep us posted and if I can help....email me privately. Sorry for this long post....I had 3 cups of coffee! :-) Sonya in Wilmington, NC

Guest guest
Hi Sherry! i'm new here too, and right now, mainly waiting for our insurance to kick in. We will have CIGNA, and so far, I'm feeling hopeful. I know that DR. Rutledge is contracted with CIGNA (CIGNA said this), and our CIGNA plan is PPA, which is Preferred Provider Access - if I understand it correctly, we don't need a primary care doc, we can go to whomever is in the network. Our policy states a pre-existing clause, so we're not doing anything until after April. I just live on this message board and on the website, and learn all I can. I think all policies are different. CIGNA does have some HMO type policies, which might be the difficult ones, but find out. Right now, I'm optimistic about ours, so I hope I'm not kidding myself. I have talked to a CIGNA rep twice, and she told me both times that they cover it, as long as it is medically neccessary. Good luck! in SLC, Utah I need help!! > Hi Everyone! > > I have been reading all of the posts the past week or so and have a few > questions to ask.
