Guest guest
Hi everyone, Well, we've taken the plunge and booked for New York at the end of May. It will be my first trip to the USA. Hopefully it will happen and my health problems (or Jim's) will not rear their ugly heads sufficiently to stop it. Insurance will cover cancellation if essential. Luckily I managed to find a company who would give me medical insurance even for pre-exisiting conditions, in particular, my pancreatitis. Not all companies do this, by any means. The premium is high but worth it for peace of mind. For any UK members of this group, I found the insurance with Tesco. Not saying it's the only one but it was very quickly arranged and in a very human way. Our usual travel and medical insurance will cover everything else such as accidents or " new " and unrelated illness. May I ask you again for any recommendations on which hospital to use if I should need emergency treatment? I'll look on the net but some of you may know a good hospital for gastro probs in N.Y. or a pancreas specialist. So far I have not needed emergency treatment but it could happen at any time, of course. I intend asking my GP to write a short note explaining my condition, that it is not alcohol or drug related and with a reference to possible complications which can arise with pancreatitis. I also want her to state the medication I am prescribed, which I'll have with me, and the name and contact numbers of both my pancreas specialist and gastroenterologist in Liverpool. Thank you in advance for any advice you can give. I know I asked the question once before about the hospital. If someone replied and I missed the reply, I do apologise! Love to all, Fliss (UK)
