Guest guest
As my supplement to Medicare, Humana will only pay for the generic drugs, and that is why I am on Lipram.... I'll tell you one thing, it's a whole lot better than that Ultrace. , Obviously I was confused by your first post on this subject, I thought you meant that the brand Ultrase WAS the one that worked well for you. Though it appears I was mistaken, and it's the generic Lipram that you prefer. I've taken both and personally, never noticed any difference between them. Your problems appear to be much more complex, and your problems with steatorrhea more severe, thus your physical variences with each. At first when I took Ultrase, my insurance wouldn't cover the brand, and it became too expensive for us, so the doctor agreed to a generic, and the pharmacist gave me Lipram. A few months later our insurance company changed, (that's US Airways for you, they change insurance companies each year, always with different " allowed medications " ). When they changed again, brand name medications were allowed, so the doctor switched me BACK to Ultrase, saying that the brand name product was better.....very confusing! Have you ever considered the OTC Solgar product called Pancretin? Karyn brought this enzyme to our attention, she said that it's the same as the brand name enteric coated enzymes, and can be ordered at online pharmacies or found in health food stores. This might be something that would interest you, and the cost is minimal, compared to the pharmacy enzymes. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
