Guest guest
I have not tried to fill out the site, but I have heard some interesting things. 1. Most states have different plans, here in Georgia we have eighty-two plans to choose from. 2, Even experts have a great deal of trouble choosing a plan for certain common conditions 3. The US Government website has had a great deal of trouble with the web site and the information on the web site. 4. Of the people on medicare, seventy-five percent are not computer active. 5. I have heard that if you don't choose a plan this year, of course you must be medicare eleigible, there is a penelty to choose a plan later, and that depending on the state, the penelty can be sever. I've even heard that it is recommended that if one is undecided or opts to not participate, it is better to choose the lowest cost plan so as to retain association with the eligibility of a plan. 6. Congress is aware of the problems but cannot do anything as there is just not time to do anything. It also makes a great plank for the 2008 election. that's right 2008. 7. The proper plan choices can have significant savings for a person depending on their income, current coverage, resources, available plan, and current and/or expected meds. Lots of Luck with all that if you are now Medicare elegible and trying to investigate this issue or if you will be Medicare elegible within the next three years (or maybe even longer), or if you have a sibling, parent, child, or friend who is trying to make any decision on Medicare drug assistance. That likely includes just about all of us. Once I tried to help my mother-in-law with a decision about " Medigap Insurance " and that was an extremely frustruating experience. Trying to evaluate coverages from different companies, the associated costs, the likelyhood of need, the acceptance of coverage by her local hospitals, etc. Finally made the decision by picking a " name " company and just hoped for the best. Guest guest
OK, here's the question-o-the day. Has anybody besides me tried to fill out the online medicare prescription coverage forms through that nifty goernment website yet??? Wanna compare notes and/or rant and rave about it??? It's so much fun when the darn thing changes formats daily or doesn't work at all. Just curious about other peoples exreriences and insight. Guest guest
I'm investigating that right now. I didn't know you could do it online, though, so I'll have to give that a try.....if I can, that is. My problem is that I already have prescription coverage through my husband's insurer, and they are " supposed " to send me an analysis of their costs for me to compare against the medicare sponsored groups. To date, I haven't received anything at all, except the Medicare notices, so I don't have anything that I need to make any comparisons. This whole thing is so confusing, I'm not sure what to do. I'll take a look at the online forms and get back to you, as I'm sure I'll have questions. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
Medicare Part D mess is the only thing I can think of that makes me say " thank the Good Lord I have Tricare " ! I tried to help someone else with it and my head nearly blew up. I think, since they're on Medicaid, they get the standard with no deductables and no premium, but I can't be sure. The book contradicts the website, the website contradicts the Blue Cross book....I think I'd rauther do my own liver biopsy than look at that again.... Margaret > OK, here's the question-o-the day. Guest guest
If I remember correctly, you can fill out the forms and then there is a place to add in your exixting coverage. Keep in mind I've been playing with this off and on since late last week and I've seen a number of changes. So, it may be different when you get to it. Hopefully it'll be easier and more stable when you get to it. Regards, Chris
Guest guest
You've pretty much hit everything I've run into so far I think the most frustrating part is the forms/website has changed numerous times in the past week. I'll try to keep posting as I go through the process. I like most here that are eligible, fall into the catastrophic level of coverage and haven't found out too many details as to what this means as far as copay, premiums etc. Regards, Chris
