Guest guest
Hi Bonita, > > , > > I'm with Cathe. I can't afford any kind of organic or truely natural chicken at our very small health food store here. There's absolutely no way. Unfortunately most of the chicken I buy (boneless skinless breasts) doesn't say anything at all about what if anything is added.>>>> Organic or natural chicken is next to impossible to find where I live (unless you know a farmer who has free range you are out of luck.) So, when I started the diet I checked out certain brands at my local grocery store. I spoke to the head butcher and asked them to check the boxes that it came in. I believe in Canada that all meat sold has to list all ingredients if any are added. I tried some " seasoned pork " once that just listed phosphates and water - the same ingredients that are in the bacon I use. I was awfully sick - I don't know if it is the combination of additives, the amount of additives or some treatment that doesn't have to be put on the label (processing aids...). <<<<< I have found the info on a little bit of the chicken that actually says, but they all say natural flavors or carragean or chicken broth added. How much damage would chicken do if it had something in it? That wouldn't stop the healing would it? > > Bonita>>>> It will probably depend on the person but I had cellulose gum once in a supplement( I didn't read the fineprint) and I ended up in a flare after 3 days of taking it. Today I made homemade chicken balls from ground kosher leg meat I got at Costco and had immediate swelling, headache and stuffy nose. I did add onion, egg, garlic and almond flour to the ground chicken but am not allergic to any of those ingredients. I didn't think there were anti biotics or hormones added to Kosher chicken but can tell you I am trashing what I cooked and another pound of ground chicken that I froze. When I made the same recipe using veal there were no problems. I found info on the Chai Kosher Chicken website that explains my bad reaction. I am allergic to corn, barley , canola oil and soy which explains my reaction to the Chai chicken I got at Costco in Toronto. That is what their feed is comprised of. The chicken is hormone free though. Not much help for me.I need a chicken that's fed SCD yogurt LOL! Carol F. SCD 8 years
