Guest guest
: I was on Oxycontin/Oxycodone for a couple of years, and never really felt like I had good pain control, I was always running out early. When I was switched to methadone (for pain control) it was a whole new experience. I have been on it for about a year now, and it's been a lifesaver. If I had to, I could stay on this for the rest of my life. Probably when he added the Cymbalta, was when everything clicked, and the combination of the two, with Actiq pops for breakthrough pain, provided me with the ability to regain back alot of my life that I thought I had lost. There were times over the past few years, when I thought if this was going to be the rest of my life, who needs it! I certainly don't feel that way anymore. Hope this helps you, because my pain doctor who prescribed these medications, has helped me so much. He also never questions when I get the scripts filled, he never counts days, or puts don't fill before...., all those things contributed to my guilt of feeling like a drug addict. The trust between you and your pain doctor is invaluable. Good luck! Robin R. land
Guest guest
I have to agree with you Robin. Since I have been on Methedone my quality of life has been so much better. I only need percocet right now for break thru pain. The only side effect is a little sleepiness. For some reason right now though my nausea has increased but my doc thinks it has to do with my pancreas or biliary duct problems. I will know more this friday. I also had my PSA done I hope it comes back OK and not elevated. Again Methedone works really well for pain management with some people and inaddition it is really inexpensive. Guest guest
Robin, Thank you so much for the information. I really appreciate it. Is Methadone more " powerful " than OxyContin and/or Morphine? I take Morphine 200 mg per day alternating with OxyContin 160 mg per day every 3 months with Percocet for breakthrough. Since I am going to see a new pain doctor and I need my meds " adjusted " a little since I have been on this same regime for about 2 years now, would you, in your opinion, ask about Methadone? OR, are the Morphine and OxyContin more " powerful " than the Methadone? If you have an answer and/or opinion on this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much, T. Guest guest
Wanted to add that methadone saved me from the mind boggling pain of postherpetic neuralgia, when *nothing* else worked. I have no idea what I would've done without it! Margaret
Guest guest
Have to agree with you there, the price difference is unbelievable, my oxy is $282 and the methadone is $22 J Ruggieri > > I have to agree with you Robin.
