Guest guest
I'm slowly reintoducing food after a long time (11 months) with no food. Milk for some reason makes me sicker than refried grim death. Skim milk-either lactose free or lactose containing it makes no difference, all kill me. I can eat fat free cheese, yogurt and cottage cheese (fat free) but liquid milk sends me into hours of agony (like last night!). Its consistant. Logical thing is don't drink milk, I know, and I'm not but was just wondering if anyone knew the mechanism. Saw doc today (I was bleeding all over the place due to something I can't spell, it needs laser surgery to take it off, right now I have a huge pressure bandage) and he said it sounded like dumping syndrome, since skim milk is high sugar. I'm not sure about that because it sure feels like the panc. And I can drink juice and not get sick. Does anyone else have a problem with milk? Does rice or soy milk work any better, if you do? Diet and this disease is interesting, but I hate the trial and error aspect. All foods start to look about as appetizing as Decon mouse killer (or Decon Pancreas Killer-LOL!)I thought I'd better ask here before I went out and bought some rice milk, in hopes of not ending up with yet something else I can't eat. Guest guest
Mayvbe the sugar in the milk is kicking up your triglycerides and that is causing the panc problems? Thats kinda the boat I am in. Dick WOW, 11 months NPO! Amazing. I'll never complain about 11 days NPO again > > I'm slowly reintoducing food after a long time (11 months) with no > food. Guest guest
Margaret, I assume you're just coming off TPN.(I haven't been active on the boards in a looong time so, I'm kinda out of the loop) I've been through I think 3 rounds of TPN over the past 6 years so I can understand. I can't to this day tolerate any milk at all. I miss raisin bran soooo much !! I can, like you, do yogurt but, no milk at all. I even torture myself once in a while and try it but, I wind up playing tough guy for a couple hours, thinking how good it was then get so darn nauseous. You'ld think I'd learn ! I really have, just miss it so much. My point is, you're not alone. I just have the benefit of having the nerves to my pancreas cut so the pain isn't too bad from the milk. It just makes me wanna throw up. Regards, Chris
