OK guys and gals....Here goes the story of the day. I went to my

family doc 2 weeks ago to get a perscription for my pain meds. I

told him that I would be running out of them one week early because

I have been having alot of attacks again, and I am in the process of

getting in to my GI specialist to get stents again. Well I get this

notice in the mail to come to the post office to pick up this

certified letter for me (from my doctors office). Well, I was

guessing that it was just the blood test results from my prior

appointment with him. He had me take a blood test and urine test.

Well the letter states that my panc enzymes were fine (which I new

because it had already been 5 days after the attack when I saw

him). And that my liver enzymes were also fine. Then it states

that he is concerned about my urine blood test, because it did NOT

show evidence that I am taking my pain medication. (meperidine) AND

now he will NOT prescribe me my pain meds anymore!!!!! I was

literally freakin' out. I was in total disbelief!!! I take that

medication every single day of my life and don't know what

happened. Well, I do have a few thoughts. If anyone has any

information on the " life " of this drug in one's system, then please

let me know. I take Meperidine everyday, 2-3 times a day. This

particular day that I saw my family doc (when he ran these tests), I

had NOT taken any pain meds in the morning. Also when I filled my

urine cup, I did notice that my name was NOT on the label and when I

went to put it into the cubby, there was also another urine filled

cup there too. I am totally thinking that somehow my urine sample

got switched with someone else's!! OR....that Meperidine leaves the

blood stream within 12 hours?!!?? Can someone out there let me know

if they know the " life " of Meperidine in the bloodstream/urine??? I

called my docs office and I'm going in tomorrow morning to discuss

this with him. I will be bringing my hubby and children so they can

vouch for me, that I DO indeed take this medication every single

day. I am also asking for another urine or blood test be done

(making sure that my name is on the label). Boy do I feel like I am

being accused of selling my pain meds or something. The letter also

stated that he will not treat me for my condition any longer and

that I can seek the advise of another physician. I am totally blown

away by all of this!!! Please,...anyone have any answers or

advise????? I am soooooo upset!!!!

Thanks!

Depending on the test used, most can detect Mephridine usage within 2-

4 days. So I wonder if the person with the other urine sample got in

trouble for being a drug addict???

Margaret,

I was wondering the same thing??!!!

I am still so ticked-off. I have to go see this doctor tomorrow and

I'm bringing my family with me. My hubby and both of my kids will

vouch for me since they see me take my meds all the time. They also

witness my attacks too. I am bringing my medicine bottles with me

too. I know that CP sufferers get told alot that they are drug-

seekers, but I must have moved up a notch on the ladder....since I'm

be accussed of being a drug-dealer !!!

Geese!!!!!

Several days

The only way this could happen is if-they screwed up and tested the

wrong urine. Or, you've been taking a bootleg generic drug which has

no active ingredient. That's happened before but I think you'd notice

as you've been getting no pain control medication!Like, the severe

pain would be a clue (<G>)
