How much magnesium do you use.? Is it magnesium glycinate or citrate?? My

daughter is 3 and her stools are, AGAIN, little balls all formed together into a

big ball and pretty firm.? She does go everyday, but I wonder if magnesium might

help.? I am always so afraid to add supplements, as her diet is so limited and I

want to add food as much as I can.? I don't increase or add supplements at the

same time, so that I can figure out where the reactions come from...thanks

Hi Susie

Be very careful with how much magnesium you give your child. I just did that

because my daughter was constipated, the first time she got diarrhea and the

second time she was overdosed. Her eyes were going from side to side, she

was hiccupping, not sleeping at night but sleeping in the day, very

lethargic and her seizures seemed to be going on all day.I had given her

1x100 for 4 days than I increased to 2x100mg, 3x100mg and than 4x100 mg. She

only weighs 50 lbs.

Find out all the side effects, I have tried the beet juice and the prune

juice now, it works once than she is back to constipation. I am still trying

to figure out what to do.

Magnesium citrate would be the one for loosening the stools. I do not

know the amount for a 3-year-old. It is generally safe, but just

increase slowly. Decrease if you see a bad reaction.
