Interferon

Hi ! You are the first person responding to this, I have tried to

ask before. I tried Interferon last spring but couldnt stand the

sideeffects. My doctors is now trying to convince me to start again (the

neurologist) by the fifth week I should be on a dose of 44 mikrog 3

times a week subcutan injections for MS.

Did you have bad sideeffects? Do you think I should try it. I am so

reluctant. I have enough problems as it is. I can hardly tolerate any

food and my Cp together with the MS where sometimes it is hard to say

whats what is just pulling me down, no rest, my body is like an aching

nerve and nothing nice to eat or drink, I have just lost all incentive,

find it hopeless. Interferon is just a medicin that helps MS in the long

run, like not getting worse in 3-5 years time. I dont want to stay in my

useless body that long! If I could only have my head with the soul and

intellect removed to a little better place to stay in.

Please tell me about your experiences with Interferon. Thanks for your

Hi Sonja,

I know how frustrating it can be when trying to decide what to do. How

long were you on the Interferon last spring? What side effects did you

experience that made you decide to stop? Did it help you at all while you were

on it? Is hard for me to tell you accurately what side affects the interferon

had for me. I was also on copegus, an antiviral med, at the same time. Not sure

which med caused which symptoms. I definitely can say I would feel worse, flu

feeling, several days after the shot for several days. But remember I was on

much higher doses. But from what I have seen, everyone reacts very differently

to the interferon. Some get alot of side effects and some get hardly any. It

depends on your situation. How long would you have to take it? Talk to you soon
