Guest guest
I am going to post about two different issues; I apologize in advance if this is incorrect. The first thing involves the discussion of illegal chicken. I really appreciate the individuals that posted that commented that each and every one of us needs to do the best we can with this diet. It is very complex, very expensive, and very time-consuming. Having had my son on the GF/CF diet for nearly 14 years, I don't think I had more than a handful of infractions. But this diet is more complex and not as black and white as the GF/CF, so I think it is much more difficult to do perfectly. I hate to see people beat themselves up if they cannot do everything legal. Luckily, this diet helps people even if they have minor infractions (I think we should change the language-using the term " legal, " " illegal, " and " infractions " is quite intimidating LOL). I really applaud anyone who attempts this diet for themselves or for their child. I had an intensely busy week this past week. My son's caretaker of almost 7 years has had to take time off for medical purposes and will be out for several months. She had been helping me with some of the cooking. Without her, not only have I had to balance work and childcare, but also do ALL the cooking for my son and my family. This diet requires me to shop at 3 different groceries. When I mentioned this situation to some moms that I know, their comment was: " Well that's why we have Mcs. " I realized that many families (special needs or not) utilize fast food or semi-fast food restaurants (like Boston Market) in order to balance their lives. We cannnot. We must cook, from scratch, 21 meals (in my son's case 28 meals) a week. That is unbelievable for most of us working or non-working mothers (and fathers?). We should really REALLY be proud of ourselves. The second comment I have is about die off. I have experienced die off twice myself. The first time was really tough. I had almost a month of lethargy and moodiness. I kept it under wraps as I had to keep my life going, but it was tough. Reading about what others went through was very supportive and it helped me understand my reactions. The second time was much easier. It took only about 4 days to start feeling better. I think the reason is that the second time I didn't have as much toxins and bacteria to get rid of and I have been on a really good probiotic. I think that everyone has a slightly different reaction. When my son went through die off, he had one bad week followed by an intensely improved period. Being that he was GF/CF before SCD probably helped him somewhat, but I think it is going off the sugar that really causes issues. **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products.
