Guest guest
Rhonda, As said an EUS is a valuable tool for looking at the outside of the pancreas. I have had no luck in the hospital or outside with ultrasounds and CT Scans so I think my judgement is colored by that. I still stand by my comment that an ERCP is the gold standard for diagnosing pancreatic problems. I shouldn't have discounted the EUS as being no good. I hope you are able to have an ERCP just so you can have piece of mind and know for sure if your having CP, AP or if you had AP attacks and that has resolved. My apoligies for being so vocal to discount that test. Sandy in CA -------------- Original message -------------- HI Rhonda. An EUS is a very valuable tool for looking at the outside of the pancreas, the organ itself. Good news that you no longer have any issues with the psuedocyst. How did the psuedocyst get there in the first place. Have you ever had an ercp? It enables the docs to look inside the pancreas.
Guest guest
Sandy, I don't know that the ERCP is the gold standard. My ERCPs didn't show anything. EUS showed fibrosis on the tail of my pancreas. When I had my pancreas taken out the EUS was right and the ERCP wrong. I think that there are no medical tests that are 100%. Technology is a lot better, but that doesn't mean that they are perfect. Crystal Galloway
