Guest guest
I second (or fifth, or whatever) what others have said about you doing such a great job in such a difficult situation, CJ....My heart goes out to you and your son. Snack ideas: --Trader Joe's has Cheddar Cheese sticks that look just like mozzarella sticks. --instead of cranberries, maybe raisins? --there is a recipe at scdrecipe.com, I believe, for an SCD Oatmeal that really looks and tastes like oatmeal. Unbelievably, the ingredients are eggs, applesauce, baking soda and some SCD yogurt. We add raisins and cinnamon, too. We eat is ASAP. Don't know how it would taste after a while.... --crackers: the cheese crackers are pretty good and kid-pleasing, if you'd be allowed to feed all the kids (or if you would even want to!). Shredded cheddar formed into rounds and baked at 350, then cooled. Do this on parchment paper to make your life easier. --I think there is a gingerbread recipe as well, but it probably has nut flour in it. Is it okay to send nut products to your ds's school? Hang in there! We're all rooting for you. Ellen 10 y/o dd scd since 5/06 for Crohn's and doing great.
Guest guest
Hi Ellen, Some interesting ideas and suggestions you've given me, thanks a lot! Something I can buy at the store that is SCD legal?? Wow!! I am about to try the SCD yogurt this week for the first time, so I think we are a ways from eating cheesy goods. I guess we can have the DCCC, though. We'll see how it goes with the little 1/8 of a tsp. trial that's been recommended when we start the yogurt. I can't wait to add raisons, but we aren't at the third stage, yet. (we had a couple early infractions of Stage 3 at Thanksgiving, but not since.) Thanks also for the encouraging words, it means a lot. Guest guest
forgot to answer: The oatmeal is something I will try soon, hopefully the yogurt trial goes well. That sounds GREAT. I don't think I can send nut-containing food to school for the other kids, but I have sent the brownies/muffins for my son many times. thanks, CJ > > I second (or fifth, or whatever) what others have said about you doing such a great job in such a difficult situation, CJ....My heart goes out to you and your son.
