HELP! Extreme Joint Pain and Swelling

It started for me about a week ago in my elbow. I thought maybe I hit

it or something. Then two days ago it was my achillies heel

(spelling?), then my knee, then my other elbow.

Please, does anyone know how to help this. Is it part of the die off

on the diet?

Thanks ahead of time.

Mandy, Have you been in a place where you could get a tick bite? The traveling

pain that you describe is characteristic of Lyme Disease. I don't know enough

to know if it is also characteristic of dieoff, but I have had family members

suffer terribly from Lyme.

I've experienced similar joint pain over the past few years as I've

done a variety of biomedical treatments on myself (I'm helping my son

with autism and realized how toxic I am as well). For me, this kind of

arthritis is associated with detox--usually triggered by my eating or

taking something that chelates heavy metals. I've used chlorella and

NCD and ALA in various protocols. Recently I've noticed it when I eat a

lot of garlic. There are many natural chelators like garlic--consider

if you've added something new lately. The remedy for me has been either

to reduce the consumption of the chelating agent or, even better,

increase the dose. For me too little of a chelator pulls at the metals

causing pain and inflamation, but I need a bit more to bind to the

metals and excrete them. If you figure out it's something like garlic,

you can eat a lot for 3 days then take a 4-7 days off to let your body

rest.

The good news is that your body is trying to get rid of the bad stuff,

and if you can figure out what is causing the detox, you can control it

a little.

good luck!

Thanks Kathy, No tick bite that I know of. I did have a tick bite about 6 years

ago, but nothing recently that I know of. This is extremely painful and weird.

Mandy, alas, you don't have to know that you were bitten to have Lyme Disease.

My son was unaware of a bite, but got classic Lyme and facial paralysis. But if

you were not in a place where ticks hang out, it is probably something else that

other people will be more knowledgeable about than me. I feel very green with

SCD and dieoff reactions yet.

Do you eat alot of nighshade vegetables, potatoes, eggplant, tomatoes? Could

cause arthritis...

Jeanne,

To my knowledge eating nightshade vegetables cannot

cause arthritis, but eating them can aggravate

existing arthritis. However, the pain Mandy is

describing is not indicative of arthritis, rheumatoid

or osteo.

That does not mean nothing is wrong. Many rheumatic

diseases have traveling pain as described, and if you

have suffered from ulcerative colitis for a while, the

resulting gut damage could trigger an autoimmune or

other rheumatic disorder. That may not be happening,

but it is a possibility.

Hopefully though you are just having a weird die-off

reaction. Maybe try the epsom salt baths, activated

charcoal, and see what happens?
