Guest guest
Suzanne, In answer to your questions about the 2 weeks pre-op- yes I had to come off all pain med containing aspirin, ibuprofen, acetamenophen(sp?)- in other words NSAIDs. I stopped on the day I scheduled surgery exactly two weeks from the date I got Dr. R's call. That was two days before Thanksgiving. By Thanksgiving Day I was in too much pain to walk except to go tothe bathroom. I sent my husband to my mother's for dinner because I couldn't bear the idea of the trip. Finally by Sunday I was so desperate that I emailed Dr . R. He responded that I could have Vioxx. I started it again right away and by the next day was much better. I'm not sure if Vioxx is always okay so I suggest doublechecking with him as with anything else. After that I had headaches that Vioxx didn't help but I made it and it was worth it. Stay in touch with Dr. Rabout your concern. He is a very kind person. Also, I went to because I was private pay. I'm over 40 but arthritis was my only significant co-morbidity. There again, it's Dr. R's call. I wanted to use because they charge a flat rate and I could better plan my expenses. It's generally cheaper and the care is first rate. Hope this helps. Good luck and stay in touch. Beverly in NC MGB: 12/5/00 235/
