Guest guest
So fiber is out at the beginning of the diet? Is that why we all get so constipated? I've been constipated for quite some time, several years, gradually growing worse this past year, I guess it's IBS. I am trying to eat papaya and drink more water, any other suggestions? I saw the new post on constipation and prunes, but prunes have never helped me...we've had to eliminate most foods due to oxalates, not sure about phenols, meat and dairy to a minimum, and I " m allergic to walnuts, so I'm afraid to try any nuts. There seem to be very few foods I can eat at the moment... " Wizop Marilyn L. Guest guest
> > So fiber is out at the beginning of the diet? No, we have fiber. There is fiber, and there is fiber. Here is something Sheila posted about different kinds of fiber. There are two kinds of fiber: soluble and insoluble fiber. On SCD we use just cooked fiber of legal fruits/veggies first--ripe banana and avocado are ok raw though. After some healing we can try raw (but peeled and seeded). Then unpeeled. But seeds are one of the most fibrous and can only be used when very advanced and then in small quantities. Flax seeds are not one of the seeds we can use. Here is what Elaine said about flax seed: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/flax_seed_an d_flax_seed_oil.htm mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
In addition to doing SCD I am also doing enzymes (as per De Felice's books) for my daughter's autism. I see major results every time I up the protease content. I am also taking whatever enzymes my daughter takes - and they seem to have gotten rid of my constipation, to my great surprise. > > >> crushed flax seed for fiber << > > Flaxseed isn't SCD legal. > > — Marilyn > New Orleans, Louisiana, USA > Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 > Darn Good SCD Cook > No Human Children > Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund > >

Guest guest
I started w/ Enzymatica's V-gest because it has the lowest protease content - then doubled that, then went to Gold Digest. Her body had a hard time adjusting and we took it slowly. I would only up the dosage when she got comfortable. We are now up to Gold Digest and Glutanease w/ every meal. See p 110 of 's new enzyme book or www.enzymestuff.com. > > > > >> crushed flax seed for fiber << > > > > Flaxseed isn't SCD legal. > > > > — Marilyn > > New Orleans, Louisiana, USA > > Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 > > Darn Good SCD Cook > > No Human Children > > Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund > > > >
Guest guest
Thanks, I did some research on this, it makes alot of sense...I suspected that we could not process meats and dairy and as I researched more about enzymes, I realized that this was the problem. Both my daughter and I were experiencing constipation, pain in the upper abdomen, distended (pancreatic) , and some gout symptoms (leaky gut) from unprocessed proteins and fats. I am not sure if juicing alfalfa sprouts is legal or in what stage it can be introduced, but I added that to juiced papaya and pear and it seemed to help tremendously. I have a really good book I use as a resource, called, " Prescription for Nutrional Healing " by Phyllis A Balch, CNC, which I purchased at Whole Foods. I highly recommend it... I also had a question about the affects of heating meats, or denaturing anything that we put into our stomachs...is there a certain way to heat, or introduce meats that apply to digestion and denaturing it, just as it applies to fruits and vegetables? Or is that what the SCD does and I am missing something? Thanks for any and all input!
