Guest guest
Hi, I haven't yet started on SCD but will be shortly. My son(almost 4) is ASD and I have him on GF/CF/SF currently, but it is not enough to get rid of his constipation(& refusal to poop because of it) & severe excema, which is why I joined this group. We are also on an approx 90% organic diet. He does not like goat milk, ygurt or cheese. He is allergic to all nuts (peanut & tree nuts)apart from coconut and reacts very badly to dairy (in behaviour) & non organic foods (vomiting & flu like symptoms). I am a single working Mom who hasn't quite figured out how I am going to swing this diet and not starve him or exhaust myself. My question is that if you are trying to remove all toxins from the body, then why isn't " organic " an issue? (e.g. I just happened to notice that the only juices he can have are Doles and Welches & not the HFS organics) Also speaking of juices...is 'Juice Plus' legal or Aloe Vera Juice? I also have difficulty getting any form of powdered or liquid vitamins into my little guy and can ill afford to waste them in food or drink that my picky eater/drinker doesn't finish, so any suggestions on this would be very helpful too. And one last question of the many... ;-) I have read you guys talking about the stages of the diet, but didn't find them in BTVC. Where do I find these? Thankyou so much for your time... Guest guest
Hi, , JuicePlus is illegal. Aloe Vera juice is also illegal. Please read this link: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/aloe_vera.ht m Here is a link to the stages. They are just a guide to help you know which foods are harder for most people to digest than others. http://www.pecanbread.com/new/scdfoods1.html This diet was not developed to eliminate things like pesticides. It was developed to heal a damaged gut and enable it to start digesting foods without pain, diarrhea, constipation, urgency, etc. It began as a diet for IBS, Chrone's disease, etc. It was only after finding that it was helping the symptoms of autism, too, that it became popular with parents of autistic kids. Most of us just want better behavior and better independent functioning for our kids up to the best of their abilities. If we feel that pesticides, etc., are contributing to the condition and we can afford it, we buy organic. Elaine felt organics were good, and that we should use them if we can afford them, but she never made it a requirement for doing this diet, thank goodness. Many of us cannot afford much in the way of organics and we are still seeing good results. Feel free to be as organic as you can be! mom to -12 SCD 4/23/04 > My question is that if you are trying to remove all toxins from the > body, then why isn't " organic " an issue? Guest guest
Hi, , I have to correct one thing I said in my reply to you: you can be *almost* as organic as you want to be. The exception is any brand-name juice that has been approved, has been approved because Elaine herself investigated and approved the process used and was satisfied that the company was not adding illegals. This concern was due to the 2% rule that allows additives that are not listed on the label and the discovery that many companies will add sugars to keep the sweetness of a juice consistent when the sweetness of a fruit harvested varies from the previous batch. We do have a process in place by which you can consume a product not currently on the legal list. You must get a signed, hand-written letter on company letterhead that states what is in the product and that they do not add anything they have not listed. If you receive such a letter, you can consider the product legal. mom to --12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Hi, , I had another thought about this: you can be more fully organic if you get a juicer and make your own juices with organic fruit. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
