*I am writing to you to help a family of 6. Their little 5 year old has been

on SCD for 6 months. the mother decided to try her on chicken again, which

she did. The girl girl broke out in a horrible itching frenzy; blood etc.

The mother had to put her in a plastic collar like dogs wear to stop

itching.

The mother told me she had to find out, but before then she was just doing

great. She still is allergic to plastic toilet seats, so they bought a

unfinished wood toilet seat and that works.

When she is away from home they cover the toilet seat an as long as she does

not sit directly on it, it works.

So is their information on chicken and turkey allergic reactions?

The mother feeds her mostly beef, some pork...any other suggestions you can

help me?

Hi J.H.,

That chicken reaction is an allergy and she should not

try chicken again.

Beef, pork is fine. Are eggs OK? How about wild

salmon? Is she on the yogurt? Those are all fine

protein sources.

Although there are kids who are alergic to birds, it is more likely that she is

alergic to one of the ingredients added to the meat. Turkey sometimes has

sugar, wheat and salt added (in the form of injected broth) and so do some

chickens.

Jody,

It sounds like the child has MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities) This is

complicated and

there are groups that give information and support. I belong to one in Canada

which can

be helpful to those in other countries too.

If that SCD family of six has Internet access why not give them the advantage of

advice

from many that are experenced by suggesting they subscribe to one of the SCD

lists?

It appears from many of your questions that like many of us, you are still

learning about

SCD too.

I have and each time she tells me no. I went over to her house and set her

up with pecanbread but she doesnt use it. So I feel I can help her if she

has a question by asking it here and sending her the email.
