Hi,

My son is turning 14 and has been on SCD for 11 days. His birthday is

coming up and I would like to make it special. We are still on Stage

1. I could use suggestions for foods to help him enjoy it more.

Also, when are the allowed cheeses usually tried?

Thanks,

Suma

Hi Suma,

Was your child dairy free prior to SCD? If he was not then you may try

cheese pretty soon. Just start out with a tiny bit and wait a week

without trying any other new thing.

Goat cheese is easier to digest. Stay away from Feta cheese and only

use the recommended types of cheese.

If your child was CF prior to SCD then wait till you are seeing good

results with SCD and the die off period is over. For some kids this

might be 1-2 months. You might want to combine the cheese with

Peptizide. Start out with just 1 crumb and increase very gradually.

If your child has a severe dairy allergy then wait longer....

HI Mimi,

Thanks for your help. He has been dairy free for a while--off and

on. I will take your advice and wait a bit longer.
