Guest guest
I was having some issues with my 4 month old and gaining enough weight. She's exclusively breastfed. I went to see a Lactation Consultant today to see if there's something I can be doing better or differently. They noticed that she does spitup quite a bit and she recommended that I drink tea made from fennel seeds. That it will help my daugher with gas. I wanted to check and see whether this is legal. I looked on the BTVC site and it didn't say anything about Fennel Seeds, so I thought I'd check with you guys. If its not then I can always just give it to her instead, but I'm not sure she'd take it, so I'd rather take it myself. Besides I really like tea anyways, especially now that winter is upon us. Thanks so much! SCD since June 2007 Breastfeeding since August 2007
Guest guest
Hi, , Although herbal teas are illegal (Elaine explained in BTVC that they often have a laxative effect), I think this tea would be more like putting a spice in water. In the Knowledge Base, Elaine says that she limited seeds like sesame, etc, but did not mean to limit seeds ground for spices. I think fennel would fall into this category when used in a tea. So in my opinion, I think it would be ok. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Thanks so much . I'll keep a close eye on things and make sure to not add any other new things to my diet. I appreciate your response!
