Guest guest
Hi Pat, Thanks for the post. To answer your question- the underwriter who told me about Aetna said that IF and WHEN I'm approved by Aetna the coverage will be effective 2-1-2002. I really don't know for sure if there is any fine print that I don't know about but am anxiously awaiting to be approved for this coverage. This is really challenging and we can't give up!! I know how you are feeling. Been there - experienced it. I cried when I found out that BC/BS of Florida had denied me. Then there was the depression that followed when I found out that the insurance I have now (Alliance) doesn't co ver WLS. If I don't for some (God only knows) reason get the Aetna then I will try to appeal to the Alliance company. It's so difficult to keep fighting but we must do so. It seems as if I continue jumping through hoops. Today I had to take my Occupational License (proving that I am Eileen Lehmann d/b/a Twin Oaks of Clearwater) to the bank in order to get a letter from the bank showing Aetna that I truly have a business etc., etc. I was so lucky to get a very nice bank manager who did her best to help me. There was a lot to do from her point. She called up the fictious name department (??) down a the courthouse to make sure my fictious name affidavit was current. It was, thank goodness. Then she gave me a computer read-out form with the necessary paperwork to send in with my employee's application t o Aetna. No, didn't get it mailed today because I noticed that my employee had failed to sign one of the places on the form. Now I have to wait until Monday to get the signature and send the necessary information back to the underwriter to send to Aetna. I'm in the midst of all kinds of packets and feel with all this Christmas business going a bit overwhelmed. However, tired as I am , will continue to move on in my quest for this surgery. My L Hip and knees are so painful due to arthritis that I can hardly walk. I hate to go anywhere because it is so painful to do so. I really do not have a quality of life. It scares me to realize that if I'm having all this trouble with my painful skeletal system - what is this weight doing to my heart?? Back to you, Pat. Could you check with one of your local insurance underwriters there in Nevada and tell him/her that you are interested in changing insurance companies but don't want to lose your present job and see what 's the answer. I;ll continue to share what little bit of information I realize in the future and will let you know. I do know of a girl here in this Clearwater area who sells Partylite candles for a living (part-time) - has another full-time job and was able to get some type of group coverage. I'll give her a call to see how she did it and will le you know. Again, I know very little about this insurance business but am trying to get the best kind of health insurance available. I really want this Aetna(United Health Care) PPO/ POS because the POS (point of ser vice) will cover elective procedures out of network and out of state. Or so I've been told. Let me know how you are progressing. Appeal/vs./New Insurance etc. Can you think of any possible way to get into a group plan (POS) Point of Service in your area. I'll keep you informed as to how I'm progressing. May God bless you in all your endeavors. Isn't this Insurance challenge a barrel of fun!!
