Guest guest
Hello - I was wondering if someone has a fail-proof crockpot recipe for making the chicken stock (we're just beginning the SCD diet). I'd search the archives but am getting " server busy " errors. Thanks and God bless,
Guest guest
Hi , I make chicken soup in the crockpot. You would just need to strain out everything you cook in it. Keep the chicken and carrots, throw out the other ingredients. I fill mine halfway with legs and thighs, then add some carrots, celery, garlic cloves, and large pieces of onion. You can add salt but since it cooks for so long it won't taste salty so I prefer to add salt at the end. You can also use single ground spices like sage by McCormick. I then add 2 cups of water for my 4 quart crockpot. Make sure you have about an inch of headroom. I cook on low for 8-9 hours. A lot of water should cook out of the chicken and vegetables but keep an eye on it the first time you make it. You can then remove the chicken from the bones and save it for another time if you want to use the stock separately. I think chicken stock might be easier made on the stove. I made a big pot of chicken soup over the weekend and I liked it on the stove. Same rules apply except for the stove you need to put in enough water to cover your ingredients. B.
