Day 3 Slip up

So we added applesauce today and all was well, so I thought I'd take my son to

Safeway to

buy more apples, etc. He popped into one of the car carts, we shopped and

checked out and

then I realized that he had grabbed a pack of Starburst and eaten a piece. Ugh.

He has only

been 4 for three days and me managed to swipe it.

Here's my question...do I need to remove the applesauce or can we go on as

planned? I think

I know the answer, but I would like to make sure because the applesauce was such

a bonus.

On the plus side, I think the intro is already helping...he yodled to make me

laugh, did some

amazing coloring today and said " bless you " when I sneezed.

Thanks so much,

mom to Carson, age 4 ASD (SCD since 12/9/07, working up to it since Summer)

Hi ,

You'll just have to keep an eye on him. You just

started so the only thing it might do is prolong the

inevitable die-off of bad bacteria. Those bacteria are

going to be screaming for sugar.

I wouldn't remove the applesauce but I would not

introduce anything new for a few days.

I feel like such an idiot - I am too used to having my 5 year old daughter with

us to " bust "

her brother (my son was home sick today). He's never actually grabbed anything

before. I

could only see the back of his head in the car cart and it didn't even occur to

me that he

would grab the candy. We have been sugar free for ages and I totally blew it.

School is

going to be really hard. I am sticking with it though.

, I am following your advice about the new foods...squash will be next and

it will be

over the weekend.

, no problem! We've all done stuff like that. I

think on our third or fourth day I gave my son a piece

of lettuce with his hamburger. That was my " duh "

moment. Incidentally, he reacted immediately with

diarrhea within an hour. So hey, we knew the diet was

on the right track!

School hasn't been too bad for us...the kids are not

allowed to bring food for birthdays. My son brings his

lunch and his teachers are good about making sure he

doesn't eat anything else.
