Guest guest
My 9 y.o. daughter has been on SCD since Nov. 1. The past several days she has been fighting a cold and D/frequency has increased again causing a several lb. wt. drop. Is it common to regress when your body is dealing with something else? Any suggestions? She sees her GI next Thursday. We are hoping to avoid remicade (nothing else has worked the past 2 yrs.) but if she goes in with lots of symptoms and weight loss it is not going to look good. Guest guest
Dawn, I'm sorry to hear about your dd's D and weight loss. Yes, it is extremely common to regress when fighting infection. The best thing to do is to go back to the intro diet during this time. Keep her hydrated, also. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Hi Dawn, already gave you the " official " answer, but I just wanted to send some sympathy your way....I think you are so smart to try SCD before going to Remicade. Are you giving fish oil as well? That's an anti-inflammatory that has shown really good results with IBD. Hang in there. My thoughts are with you and Hannah. Ellen 10 y/o dd scd since 5/06 and, thankfully, doing great
Guest guest
Yes, it is common. My son has a cold right now and he had loose stools for the past few days. Now they are fine again. We didn't introduce anything new during that time but I suspect going back to the intro would have helped more. B.
