lots of protein and behavior problems?

I plan to start SCD with my 3 year old ASD son in about a week. My

only hesitation is about some behavior issues. My son is quite

oppositional defiant (he is a sweet heart too, but...) . I've done

some reading lately about autistic children that are high histamine

(oppositional defiant type behavior) and it cautions parents about a

high protein diet. Apparently protein increases stores of histines?

I feel certain this diet will help my son's gastro issues - but I am

obviously concerned about the above. Does anyone know anything about

these issues? How to balance these concerns?

Hi ,

My son had some behavior issues that pretty much went

away after starting SCD. He was biting himself and

headbutting his instructors when he didn't get his

way. After the first week on SCD, it stopped

completely.

I have noticed that sometimes when I think my son is

being defiant, he is just getting yes and no mixed up

and asking the wrong things, and then panicking and

saying it wrong again. I don't know if other moms and

dads of ASD kids have noticed that. They can get quite

worked up.

This diet is not high protein forever. It just has

more protein in the beginning. You can balance it out.
