Guest guest
I had ordered a vitamin for kids on the spectrum but found out it is illegal. I am also giving them to one of my daughters that has some issues but I want to get her on SCD also. I am kind of torn because I don't want to give an illegal supplement but on the other hand these were so much money I can't bare to not use them! So what do you give your kids that is legal for a vitamin for kids with autism? Thanks,

Guest guest
Kirkman's has SuperNuthera in a hypoallergenic capsule that they have made SCD legal. SuperNuthera is a supplement designed specifically for children with autism. Be sure you get the one without Vitamins A & D if your child is taking any fish oil supplement. I believe Kirkman's actually has a list of supplements on their site that are SCD-compliant. You may email me off-list with any specific questions, or go on Kirkman's website/give them a call, and they are great at answering questions (by phone anyway, I haven't had good luck getting them to respond to email questions). Guest guest
Kirkman's DRN Capsules are also legal; that is what we use. Maybe you can use up what you have by giving it to your daughter that is not yet on SCD and change her supplement when this one runs out so you do not waste so much $ (regardless of when you start her on SCD.) This is a process that sometimes needs to go slowly, and many factors need to be considered before everything is perfectly SCD legal. The important thing is that you know where you want to go and are not ignorant of the fact that that this is not the supplement you will ultimately be using. Using what you have is most likely MUCH better than 1) waiting to do SCD " perfectly " 2) not allowing your child the benefit of the supplements Finding baance and working toward realistc goals is the key to making changes that last in the long-run. Guest guest
I am bumping the vitamins up to my daughters that don't have any issues. Surprisingly one of them actually likes them--yuck! My son kept getting foggier and foggier on the vitamins. It wasn't a full regression but it was closer to the way he was pre-SCD than what we had seen in the last three weeks. They definitely weren't doing him any good. Thanks, 3yo son-PDD-NOS, SCD since 11/20/07 3yo daughter soon to start! -------------- Original message -------------- Kirkman's DRN Capsules are also legal; that is what we use. Guest guest
I had tried Super Nu Thera this past spring and my son was a hyper, stimming mess on it! I know some people love it but my son just could not take it. We then tried Behavior Balance from Autism Coach and it was fine but didn't really have too much in it. (I think it is just mostly somce of the b's) I wanted to find something that was more rounded but the one I tried is not working out. I will check out Kirkman's, thanks! -------------- Original message -------------- Kirkman's has SuperNuthera in a hypoallergenic capsule that they have made SCD legal.
