Guest guest
I am starting to fix SCD recipes for my son who will go on the diet in a week. I'm sure this is all too familiar but I am spending my entire life in the kitchen. I'm wondering if someone can advise which of the following recipes are freezable - and how do you do it? Or what can I make in bulk? For example I spent the morning making pancakes and cleaning up. Then I started on latkas and I didn't finish making them and cleaning up until lunch! I know I must be very inefficient but I would love to hear some tricks that would save me some time. My son will currently only eat french fry like things, pancake like things, or nugget like things. I know initially we won't be eating these things but, eventually for a guy like this should I just shred and dewater and bunch of things and keep them in baggies in the fridge? He is eating: most types of pancakes latkas butternut squash fries carrot chips zucchini/almond fritters thanks for your help, mom of 3 year old ASD son, will start SCD in one week
Guest guest
, most of these things will freeze. I also keep tons of frozen veg and fruit purees, frozen in appropriate portion sizes, in my freezer to add to scrambled eggs, muffins, pancakes etc. so easy to just pull one out and let it defrost on the counter or in a bowl of warm water. I probably have 10-15 different fruit and veg purees on hand and if I devote several hours to making the purees every few weeks, it is not so daunting. Guest guest
, I cook and skin tomatoes to be frozen which helps with ketchup and meatloaf and such. My freezer chest is packed full of pre-made items. It does take time to get it that way, though. I buy in bulk, cook in bulk and freeze in bulk, which really helps. I haven't found much, if anything that can't be done this way. I buy goat's milk (wait until your son's ready) and freeze it until I'm ready to make into yogurt. The trick is, for me at least, finding enough food containers to hold it all!! If you need anything else, this is the BEST place for help!!! Good Luck! Guest guest
Does anyone know, is it ok to mix water with lemon and honey? Is that legal? > > , > > I cook and skin tomatoes to be frozen which helps with ketchup and > meatloaf and such. My freezer chest is packed full of pre-made > items. Guest guest
I'm like the others. I freeze everything. I cook carrots, green beans, butternut squash, chicken and carrots pureed, baked fish, meatloaf, pearsauce and I freeze them in individual sandwich bag portions. Pull out 3 bags and viola, there's a meal (carrots, green beans and fish or meatloaf). I freeze nut butter, banana pancakes, etc. I think the only thing I don't freeze is cooked pork chops. I don't think I want a lump of rock to eat later with that one. You're not cooking all day for each meal and have some in reserve when you are going to be out for a while. Bonita freezing scd food I am starting to fix SCD recipes for my son who will go on the diet in a week. I'm sure this is all too familiar but I am spending my entire life in the kitchen. Guest guest
Hi Tina, > > Does anyone know, is it ok to mix water with lemon and honey? Is > that legal?>>>> Yes it is okay as long as it is real lemon (not the kind from the plastic lemon or bottle) and the honey is legal. It is great for a sore throat or a nice drink. Guest guest
Thanks, I had actually made it for my 18 month who was sick, and my 3 year asd son drank it. I am trying to find a drink for him to put his supplements in. Right now I use propel water, just a drop with mostly water, but he won't drink just plain water, and I have to get his supplements in him. I wasn't sure about the honey. You can't even use the organic plastic lemon? Thanks, Tina > Hi Tina, > > > > > > Does anyone know, is it ok to mix water with lemon and honey? To save time I usually buy a lot of lemons, juice them all at once then pour approximately 1 tbsp amounts into ice cube trays and freeze them. When they are frozen I transfer them to a freezer bags. They are very handy then for recipes, drinks etc.. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and
Guest guest
I just wanted to say 'thank you' to all the ladies who've shared lately about their little tricks in the kitchen re: freezing and stocking up and such. I have learned so much just this week, it seems, and am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with all the food prep! (Also, taking the yogurt at NIGHT has seemed to really make a difference.)
