Hello all,

I have read the book and web site. In theory, starting a kid on the

diet using the legal dairy is fine. I know a lot of asd kids do not do

the dairy until about 3 months into the diet. My daughter does not

have a diagnosis of asd, but has SPD- hyposensitivity, not the hyper.

When I took her off dairy a few months ago, (when starting the cfgf

diet) we saw NO CHANGE. Her dad has UC and there are no issues with

starting the yogurt,... with UC people. So, I look at her more from a

UC perspective. I am thinking of starting the diet as Elaine wrote,

not witholding the dairy. Anyone have experience starting the dairy

with a kid with some asd symptoms and had no problem with it? The

science behind it all is amazing and in theory, the legal dairy should

be fine for these kids, right? By the way, she has no diarhea or

cramping... Thanks, look forward to starting!

Instead of starting the dairy along with the intro,

I'd wait a few days and test it separately like other

foods, waiting to see if there's a reaction.

When we first took my son off gluten, we thought there

was no change at all either. When we gave him a test

meal with gluten...WHOA NELLY.

So, it's possible that a change was so gradual you

didn't notice it. My two cents!

Since does not have diarrhea and you saw no change when you

took her off dairy I think you could go ahead and start the diet as

Elaine wrote and not withhold the dairy.

Please let us know how it goes and if you have any trouble or see

any changes.

It is still a very good idea to start with the intro diet, just do

the one that includes dairy, and since no diarrhea 2-3 days should

suffice. After the intro gradually add new foods noting her

reactions or any changes in symptoms that occur.
