Guest guest
My son has been on the SC diet for almost 4 months now. He has had loose stools for quite a long time. I decided to try giving digestive enzymes again, and now he is constipated, and has incresed stomach pain. Why does he have so much trouble tolerating digestive enzymes? Is it the bacteria and yeast die-off? Tests indicate he has alot of strains of bacteria overgrowth. Now I wish I would have left them out. We have tried different ones and the kirkman brand see to be the best for him. Maybe I gave to much to fast? I might have to open the capsule and put 1/4 of it in another capsule and just go slow. He has always had trouble taking enzymes. Any suggestions? Patti G.
Guest guest
Hi, Patti G, The constipation may or may not be from the enzymes. Stop them and see what happens. Then start again, going slower this time. Keep a good record of how much you are giving and what the poops look like. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
I know from other moms that some children never tolerate the enzymes. What about the yogurt? That's better than the enzymes. If you do want to try them again, YES you should start with 1/4 capsule. B. Guest guest
Yogurt would be a good thing to try to combat the bad bacteria. Start with 1/8 teaspoon and observe for a few days. Increase by doubling if the child seems to tolerate it. But yogurt and enzymes perform totally different functions. Many children need both. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
