Guest guest
Was anyone here vegetarian before going SCD? Part of my overwhelm is that I have not eaten meat for 24 years, and my son (3) had never had it. Our entire extended family is vegetarian or vegan. I managed to do turkey and salmon to stop his diarrhea, but chicken, lamb, veal, calf liver, beef --huge psychological barriers for me... I'd like to hear from any vegetarians who did SCD, whether you managed to remain vegetarian on it or not, your struggles and solutions. Guest guest
Baden, I was a vegetarian for almost a year prior to become pregnant. After my pregnancy, I was diagnosed with RA. Many people have celiac disease and autoimmune disease that worsens or is eventually triggered by being vegetarian. Some of our bodies just cannot handle all the grain. There is at least one other former vegetarian who was here a while ago. I think free range and grass fed is a good way to feel better about the food you eat, if you can afford it and it is available to you. It may alleviate many of your concerns. You may also wish to read The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain. It explains more about what we are biologically supposed to be eating. A lot of the PETA propaganda is just that. B.
