Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your input... was in a VERY bad place when we began the diet--- this bad time started in AUgust when needed dental work done (3000$$) including anestesia for 3 HOURS! He had a reaction for 3 days after THAT, then they pushed me into trying fluoride, which he had not been on at all-- not even toothpaste...he had had a very bad reaction to fluoride(drops and extra fluoride prescription toothpaste)(took august to end of sept before my mom told me I got rashes as a child when I took flouride drops), then he had prednisone(1st week Oct) to fix THAT fluoride reaction (rashes, swollen etc.), then his stomach just continued to get worse... and worse... we were one of those ACUTE people... on thwe way to the hospital people...I never go to REGULAR doctors because, as past 4 months demonstrates... they F!@^ him up every time. I l;isten to them, and live with the results for months... every time. You'd think I'd learn by now... it has happened since he was 2 months old... but I panic, want someone to tell me what to do...and they do... and I suffer with my boy suffering... forever. so I started in the middle of hell...swollen belly, bad nights... pain... pain... asking me " doctor,,, hospital... medicine " as I am the one who always fixes his pain... but I couldn't seem to do it this time.. not with anything I know..and I know a bit by now... then when we began diet, he got worse from die off... much worse... then, it got better (about 22 days into diet, the hell got three shades better). stomach was going down (but HAD been swollen from before diet).... no more bed wetting, day-long screaming stopped... attacks almost gone.. then, I began GOAT yogurt homemade... with goyurt. My gut says it's the yogurt... I don't think it's a food, but I am going to cut back on selections to more basic choices until this reaction dies down. I gave him 1 tablespoon of homemade goat yogurt (thinking I WAS starting small) and within 1 hour, he attacked me... as before. But I am DIEHARD STUPID... and didn't think that LITTLE AMOUNT could do this.. so I figure it was a residual reaction to the whole thing... and gave him 2 tablespoons the next day... and the next 3 days... and here I am. THAT is why I think it is yogurt, cuz I HAVE NOT INTORDUCED ANYTHING NEW during this new bad turn time... He his flipping now.. he is also not wanting to eat much right now... I think nausea is back... does my theory sound right????Please give me input. 5 days with little sleep, wet sheets/blankets,etc. All I can say is, I must have done something horrid in my past life for this to be my fate... but why must my son suffer? No yogurt...and maybe by the end of this weekend.. he'll be back prior to yogurt debacle? do u think? (stopped Thursday... so Wed is 7 days...) this is wrecking my whole house... life... its all I do... again...and now XMAS is looming.. wrapping.. stuff to get do etc, what a holiday for us all. Hi Mimi, You are of course right. I haven't even tried the yogurt yet and all of the stories about people overdoing it in the beginning have scared me straight! And I haven't even tried it yet! LOL! I just didn't want the food reactions to get lost in the shuffle. Thank you, B. Guest guest
Hi, , What a nightmare all of this must have been and is for you and , . With the whole story now, I think you are right. His bloated stomach is from pre-SCD, was going down, and now a bad reaction to too much yogurt. Mimi suggested green tea, so please try that, continue with the Epsom salt baths, maybe some activated charcoal (away from meals and supplements); the simpler foods may help. I hope gets back on an even keel soon. Please let us know. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Thanks again... I am relieved you agree with my theory. Last night, he moaned and was violent... and the MOST swollen ever... but he only wet the bed one time (twice a night for past 3 nights... )which from the initial die-off, was the beginning of a better time,.. (the going back to 1 bedwetting over two... (isn't sad what we can see as a positive change?!?!?!? I am so screwed up in the head... LOL)) we were upstairs... then down... then up... then down... then up... All the usual stuff didn't help... so I stopped giving more of than..and tried... 1- I massaged his belly from one side, then the other for an hour while using hot water bottle for comfort...and the hardness broke up a little..and some gas came... 2- and made a GREEN tea and a TUMMY MINT tea combo and syringed it in his mouth (4 oz with the 2 tea bags )..and he immediately burped several times.... 3- stood on one foot and clucked like a chicken..(I think this was the real cure-all) and by 630 am we were finally sleeping like... people. now.. I have two kids home... I feel I need to keep close to me today...and (5 yr old) is exhausted and beginning to get sick... from lack of sleep?@? SO... gotta go.. troops are hungry. No moaning right now.. seems more... happy? content? so far....(I wait.. for the other foot to fall...) Did we turn a corner last night?? PRAY we did! I am! Guest guest
Hi , <<<<<.. attacks almost gone.. then, I began GOAT yogurt homemade... with goyurt. My gut says it's the yogurt... I don't think it's a food, but I am going to cut back on selections to more basic choices until this reaction dies down.>>>>> That is a very good idea - that should help him clear out the die off toxins sooner. (Did you mean yogurt or is 'goyurt' a type of yogurt starter?) <<<< I gave him 1 tablespoon of homemade goat yogurt (thinking I WAS starting small) and within 1 hour, he attacked me... as before. But I am DIEHARD STUPID... and didn't think that LITTLE AMOUNT could do this.. so I figure it was a residual reaction to the whole thing... and gave him 2 tablespoons the next day... and the next 3 days... and here I am.>>>>>> It would have been best to start with 1/8 tsp or *less* for your case. 1/8 tsp is about 1.9 billion CFU's of good bacteria. 1 tsp is about 15 billion CFU's of good bacteria. And 1 tablespoon is about 45 billion CFU's of good bacteria. It sounds as if he has trouble processing the toxins out of his body. When you retry the yogurt start with a teeney, tiny amount but wait until all of his symptoms subside again. You could start with 1/8 tsp or less. To start with less: mix 1/8 tsp of yogurt in 1 cup of water and measure out 1 tbsp of the water/yogurt mixture. If you see no increase in negative symptoms then double that amount until he is using the full 1 cup of water/1/8 tsp of oat yogurt /day. With his issues it may take quite a while to gradually work up to a full dose of yogurt. It helps to think of the yogurt as a very strong medicine that the body has to get used to. If he takes probiotics 1/8 tsp may be a good starting point for him otherwise the water method may be best. To get a comparable idea Elaine only recommended starting with a maximum of 3 billion CFU's/day in a probiotic. The yogurt is far stronger than any probiotic. If you see any negative symptoms when you restart like this please let me know and we can try to 'decipher' what is happening. <<<<<THAT is why I think it is yogurt, cuz I HAVE NOT INTORDUCED ANYTHING NEW during this new bad turn time... > He his flipping now.. he is also not wanting to eat much right now... I think nausea is back...>>>>> epsom salt baths may help with the nausea. Weak homemmade ginger tea (fresh cut up ginger (1 T) with boiling water steep then strain out ginger) may help with nausea but with his strong reactions it may be best to avoid a new food for now and stick with epsom salt baths. <<<<<No yogurt...and maybe by the end of this weekend.. he'll be back prior to yogurt debacle? do u think? > (stopped Thursday... so Wed is 7 days...) this is wrecking my whole house... life... its all I do... again...and now XMAS is looming.. wrapping.. stuff to get do etc, > what a holiday for us all. > > > Take care! > > > mom of 3 - 5, 10 (ASD), Randy19 > SCD since 11/14/2007 > household SCD modified, but not all following>>>>>> Yes, he should be getting through the worst of it by the end of the week. Try the baths unless he reacts bad to them in the past. If he does activated charcoal may help.
