Guest guest
Hi Sheila: You wriote: Yes, it is impt to remove a lot of the fat when doing the intro. Also, there is a small percentage of people who don't tolerate the broth as a straight liquid. Pureeing the carrots and or the chciken with the broth helps them tolerate it better. >>Tolerated better today after skimming the fat. Also some people don't tolerate broth from regular meats but need antibiotic free, hormone free and or grass fed animals. Not an SCD requirement but something that some people need to do extra. >>I always buy this type of meat for health reasons anyway. So this distended belly and crazy new symptoms could be overgrowth or die off? It's really uncomfortable and worrisome. I guess I'll find out at the end of the month. Thanks, Liz UC 4 yrs SCD 8/07 Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search. Guest guest
White meat chicken is good, but you can't make good tasting soup with white meat. The dark meat has all the flavor. B. Guest guest
Actually, I prefer all white meat for my soup and broth. I don't like the greasy, heavy taste of dark meat. I use only boneless skinless chicken breast for my soup. It just is a little drier piece of meat. I only have dark meat when I roast a whole chicken. It depends on preference and if you have any difficulty with the either type of chicken meat. Guest guest
Bonita, How do you get broth without using bones? The minerals and gelatin that cook out of the bones flavor the soup and add lots of nutrients. B. Guest guest
I guess if you've never used the bones you don't know what you're missing (lol). The salt water takes on the chicken and carrot flavor and gives a light clean flavor. In fact I freeze any left over and use it in my gravies and meals that need chicken broth added. My husband is not fully SCD and he loves the flavor of it added to food also. I really only like to use beef bones from a trusted, natural source source locally in order to make broth. We've just always used boneless skinless chicken breasts for everything. Never have really missed it. I did try the soup with the whole chicken and couldn't stand the flavor or heaviness. I like a light chicken flavor. In fact long before SCD I would boil the b/s breasts and use that water to boil the pasta for spaghetti. It gave a rich flavor. I try to get minerals from food sources, and I have a heavy duty juicer that I juice veggies for my son for many of his minerals and vitamins until he gets enough healing to tolerate those veggies (which may take a LOOOOONG time).
