Guest guest
I bought goat milk, yogurt starter with no bifid... and a candy thermometer. I opted to use Elaine's suggestion of a 60 watt bulb in the oven. The major problem I am having is this: the thermometer shows up to a 10 degree difference depending on whether the thermometer is -touching the bottom of the pot -laying at a 45 degree angle, with most of the stake in the milk -standing upright, not touching the bottom of the pot So which way is giving the correct temp? And then...Placing thermometer into the oven (not the pot contents), which Elaine suggests, the oven itself does not come anywhere near 100-110 degrees. It's about 60. If I put the thermometer into the milk though, it is 110. Baden, mom to 3yr old with suspected Celiac and Autism

Go by the temp of the yogurt. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and
