Guest guest
Ugh!!! I just discovered that unsalted Land O Lakes has " natural flavorings " in it. I could have sworn I checked it and it didn't. I can't find any locally that doesn't have " natural flavorings " now, at least unsalted that doesn't. I can find salted with just cream and salt, but all the unsalted has junk added. What's the deal! Bonita
Guest guest
My guess is they are trying to make it taste better since it doesn't have salt. Some things just don't taste good without salt. Is there a reason you want to buy without the salt. I figure the little bit of salt I add to foods or that's in butter in very small compared to our salt intake pre-SCD, so I don't sweat it. However, each person is unique and maybe salt is a big no-no for you. Diane SCD 3 months Ugh!!! I just discovered that unsalted Land O Lakes has " natural flavorings " in it. Guest guest
It's for making ghee, so it has to be unsalted. Guest guest
Hi Bonita, > > It's for making ghee, so it has to be unsalted. > Bonita>>>> I've made ghee with both salted and unsalted butter. Both turn out good. This link says the salt remains in the deposits anyway: http://www.intentblog.com/archives/2007/10/recipe_of_the_w_36.html Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and

Guest guest
Sheila, I tried it with salted butter for my husband and myself, but the oil itself was still salty some and the texture was not nearly as good - I guess because of some of the salt left in the oil. I may have no choice than to do that for my son with salted. I really prefer the unsalted. It just works better. This may be a silly question...but the organic unsalted butter lists either lactic acid or some other form of culture along with the cream. (Only two ingredients). So if we are using this to make ghee, we should still end up with no lactose or casein? Diane D.

Guest guest
I finally tried a paper coffee filter and it seemed to work better for it than anything, at least for me. If I'm doing larger quantities, I may have to change them out some while making it. It seems to drain a lot slower at the end, but I don't mind in order to make sure there is nothing left in the ghee.
