Guest guest
I need some help. If anyone, especially from Michigan, has Aetna US Healthcare that has been approved, I need some advice. My coverage starts on January 1, 2001. I have tried to get the information I need for Dr R's insurance letter. Aetna tells me that the Dr must call in the request for preapproval to them and not fax or send a letter. Is that right? They won't give me an address or a fax number. Please let me know what I should do next. Thanks! Bay City, MI

Guest guest
, I have Aetna Us Healthcare. They did not want to give me the fax number either. But with I insisted and got mine. Although, it will matter where your office will be located. Once you get your insurance card, it will have the address for you to go through. What I did was call the number on the card. Then I asked for the number of the department that does predeterminations. I called that department and they gave me their fax number. Be sure to get a name to send it referencing their name. Use the ATTN: line. I did this then I called back the next day to make sure that person received my fax. Then in almost three weeks, I got my letter. What I faxed them was the letter from Dr. R. asking for pre-certification and the letter from him stating I was acting as his agent with his permission. I didn't have a problem getting it. You can log onto Aetna's website to see what your coverages will be. Do you know what type of coverage you will be getting. I have the High Option Open Choice. So they pay 80% of most everything, with some exceptions. But if you get the Perfered Physicians Option, PPO. Ask to have Dr. R be the one to perform your surgery, once they approve him, you pay only the flat fee, ours is $15.00. I wish you luck. Be glad that you will be getting Aetna. We have not had any problems at all. If they didn't pay something, I called to question it and usually, they will pay.
