Guest guest
An EGD is an esophagogastroduodenoscopy. It is an outpatient procedure done under what is called conscious sedation (you are awake but don't care what is going on). They insert a scope down your through and look at your esophagus and your entire stomach. Dr. R asked for volunteers to have this procedure done to document or confirm if present any bile reflux. To Phil and the others who are asking for more information - I understand that you need and want as much information as you can get but keep in mind that all of the postops have been in the exact same place as you are and we all have to make up our own minds. Gather as much information you can and then from the information you have make the decision that best suits you - in some cases that won't be the MGB. I am almost 3 months postop and have lost 35+ pounds. I feel good. I do however have some reflux occasionally - not severe - so I continue to take Prevacid. People are starting to notice the weight loss and that is great! Best of luck in your thinking process. on MGB 10/04/00 Preop 275 -35.2 pounds in 12 weeks
