Thats what I have done with my son. We took all the

grains...artifical flavors etc out and he had major die off. I have

now taken fruit away and its so hard. My biggest problem is finding

something for him to drink his supplements in. What r some of your

yummy dinners, I would LOVE to know!!

family.  He's had gut issues since I've known him, and was

unofficially dx'ed by me <wink> a few years ago as having IBS.

Anyway, he wants to start the diet after the 1st of the year, but

we're going to have to do it differently with him, as he's the sole

breadwinner here and works nights.  He can't be feeling weak or

sick when he's got to be at work for 12 hours.  We'll have to go

really slow with him.  He's been joining us at dinner for some of

our meals and enjoying them.  I thought it would be good for him to

start out, not by cutting out everything and starting with the intro

diet, but by gradually removing the harmful items from his diet.

The two most harmful we've decided on to begin with are dairy and

soda pop.  Does anyone have a suggestion as to *which* would be

more beneficial to begin with?  He drinks far more soda (at least

one a day) than he does dairy, but dairy really messes him up with

congestion.  He wants to cut both out, but one at a time.  We

then plan to keep eliminating: pasta, rice (no problem there, not a

fan), potatoes, bread until he's doing SCD.  I know this diet,

even if he does it only modified in the beginning, will help him a

LOT.  Any ideas for transitioning him?

The thing is, he's going to feel a lot better, the sooner he does SCD. All of

those ideas will help him, true. If he drinks diet soda, that should be the one

out first, but honestly, why wait? For an adult, going SCD really isn't that

big of a deal. Make him snacks and meals to take with him and support, support,

support. I thought my husband would never give up rice, ice cream or chocolate.

He is at two years on SCD and going strong.

Hmmm, one night I had meatloaf with spinach and garlic in it, I

think. We had zucchini and carrots that night as well. One night I

made baked chicken seasoned with salt, pepper and paprika, and served

with carrots, beets and green beans. I also made pork steaks with

apple. He's had our muffins (from BTVC). And our applesauce. Last

week I made 'pumpkin pie' without a crust and from butternut squash.

He loved it, and my mom wants the recipe!!

I try to keep things simple for my sake, and colorful for their sake

(appealing as well as variety). My kids are always saying how great

everything tastes, which just blows me away, because they were all so

addicted to starches not so long ago...

Hope that helps,

Hi,

My hubby isn't drinking diet soda, it's the regular, caffeinated

stuff. Secondly, he has bowel issues that will send him to the

bathroom sometimes several times a night and he doesn't want to be

doing that at work (if things get worse when he begins the diet) when

he's supposed to be supervising machines/people. He's at a new job

and can't afford to miss work. I think, for him, going SCD *will* be

a big deal. I've slipped in SCD foods as I can with him, but I

cannot expect him to just jump on board. He's not that kind of

person (although he does want to ease into it) and it's not like he's

my child where I can say, " This is how it's going to be. "
