Guest guest
I see that some are struggling out there. Thought I would write this fast post. SCD causes many changes to take place in the digestive process of a person doing SCD correctly. It takes time to adjust to these changes. For some it can aggravate symptoms (feel sick like we have the flu) for a while, while the good gut flora is getting established. This is called Herxheimer Reaction or " die off " . If one is ASD or suffers from mental condition, this too might get worse for a short while. But after on SCD for a while, one should see relief from some of the behaviors of ASD and other intestinal disease issues. One can take Epsom Salt Baths if they feel campy or nauseated. Some also take Activated Charcoal capsules one hour before or one hour after meals...this helps to absorb the bad toxins from the dieing off bad gut bugs. It is also important to eat several small meals a day, when going through this transition. Three meals a day will not be enough. We still eat several meals a day...the foods just doesn't " stick to the ribs " ...but is very nutritious. It is typical to loose weight initially, but once stabilized MOST start to gain weight back, until they have hit their optimal weight. The first three months are the toughest. At about three months....it is typical to have another " regression " . This entire first year of SCD will be full of stages that will include " die off " . The bad gut bugs live in a biofilm...and it takes a while for this to go back into balance. It is very important to make sure that everything that is being ingested is being digested. It is also important to get adequate legal SCD probiotics. Most do this in the form of the SCD yogurt and take additional acidophilus. One is truly fighting the " war of the gut bugs " when they practice SCDiet. It wasn't until we trust this yogurt that we began to heal. It is suggested for some to wait...but this " wait " is truly up to the person. If die off is great with out the yogurt....then wait...if one is not having much " die off " , then I suggest eating it. The casein is so denatured after 24 hours of fermentation, that most with casein issues will not have them with this special yogurt. Just a reminder: What we do not digest will feed the bad gut bugs...and keep the vicious cycle going. This means eating easy to digest foods at first/peeling a cooking everything. This also means starting with introductory diet...this lays the foundation of SCDiet. It is important that we watering down our juice....cut back our honey...and staying away from nuts, beans, coconut, cashews and peanuts/peanut butters until we have healed significantly. This means no....SCD legal candy either...sorry. The turtle wins this race...and not the feisty rabbit that jumps to raw carrots....nuts....legumes...and peanuts.... It is not easy....but with persistence...time goes by fast...and before you know it...one is able to eat everything on the SCD menu! The GIFT of this X-mass will be starting to feel better...not fancy starchey/sweet foods. This is the greatest gift of all! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
