Guest guest
Sandy, Glad to send that out. I can be the same way, I get frustrated and want everything NOW! For some people, doing everything that works at once was OK, and there was improvement. My response to that is -- you were lucky! I would not want to be in that situation if something went wrong. Let's say I took enzymes and started spinach and then I started a new medication, and something caused a BAD reaction...and I would be furiously backpedaling trying to figure out which thing did what! Guest guest
We are on intro for 5 days now. I gave him an apple sauce and in 20 minutes he ended up in the bathroom, same with butternut squash and bananas. What else may I try for now, since he can't be more than 5 days on intro? Guest guest
, Try cooked frozen spinach or green beans. We had good luck with those. I mix either one with eggs and fry it with olive oil. My son loves the spinach best. B. Guest guest
, I just found it easier to use the frozen, plus it seemed more broken down when it was all chopped up that way. I always have trouble getting all the grit out of fresh spinach leaves and I'm sure eating sand will NOT help. LOL. You can hide it in the beef patty if you like. But spinach tends to burn when you pan fry it with foods. So be careful. Or you can puree the spinach and beef together and fry up patties that way. That might work a little better. B. How about zukkini? Another question - is it OK to fry food on this stage, I am trying to cook or boil or steam everything... Guest guest
Hi , I tried the egg bread recipe from 's blog with green beans as the vegetable and it was so great! The veggie muffins are really good too. If you can do eggs, it is a great way to hide veggies. I have also mixed the green bean puree into chicken meatballs (I did it with spinach and called them Grinch meatballs, but they were not as big of a hit in my house as those with the green beans). I'd do the spinach in the beef ones though. Both of these vegetables seem pretty gentle. I am also wondering if perhaps acorn squash might be better than butternut? Butternut seems more starchy than acorn. For me, it is easier to cut into a raw acorn squash with my sore hands (I have RA), which is why I have used them first. Zucchini is also a good early food, but it seems like once you have peeled and seeded them and then squeezed out a lot of the water, there is not much left. :-) I read somewhere that someone added pureed zucchini to their child's apple or pear sauce to sneak veggies in. Since applesauce is not good for your son, maybe you could try pear sauce? Pears are easier to digest than apples and the sauce is pretty good. The only problem is that pears are pretty pricey - if you can find them at Trader Joe's, they are way less expensive. (I told about the legal prociutto at Costco and was shocked to hear how expensive it is! I had seen it but not bought it because it is too advanced for us. I hadn't even looked at the price. Ugh. I am going to Trader Joes today to scope it out- they also have a legal kind and it can't be $20 per pound, I hope). As for the pears, I get Barlett ones, cut them in half and seed them and then bake them until I can squish the insides out. Much easier than peeling. I hope this helps a bit. Even though we only jumped into the intro diet a few weeks ago, I have lurked on this board for a year and cooked a lot of more advanced legal foods as practice before we took the plunge. It is funny - I have always loved to cook, but I am cooking so much these days that I feel like I should open a diner! So many dishes to wash! Too bad we aren't all neighbors so we could pass foods around. We are committed though...we are already seeing good things with our little boy. Guest guest
My G-d! , thank you so much, I am going to print it out and use it as a guide. There is no Doc, who can help, so I really rely on people's experience. What kind of beans do you use (cans, fresh, string...) I am originally not from US and we did not use beans in our cuisine... ) Thank you, , son Matt 10y/o UC > > Hi , > > I tried the egg bread recipe from 's blog with green beans as the vegetable and it > was so great! Guest guest
, I guess I was confusing. By in the pan, I meant that with beef, you can pan fry patties with water added to the pan. I usually add enough so it's about a 1/2 inch deep. That way you can still get a little browning but it is more cooked than if you were to just pan fry them. You can also try zucchini but since it has to be peeled and deseeded I never bothered. I want to get a food mill but I have the smallest kitchen in the world. Wah! But since he is having issues, wait at least 3 days before trying something new. B. Guest guest
, Maybe I will try the acorn squash too. Yeah, cutting up butternut is killer with RA hands. I have my hubby cut it for me. But maybe my son would be OK with acorn squash. Butternut squash really bothers him and I'd like to be able to give him some squash once in a while. And yeah, that legal prosciutto at Costco? *dies* Man. Let me know if you find cheaper stuff! B.
