Guest guest
, I have been very fortunate that I have not had any complications. I have been able to tolorate everything food wise except Mayo and Chinese food. My Mother also had surgery and she has had some minor problems. She had to have her gall bladder removed about 4 months post-op. The Dr who did the surgery said that the stones had been there way before this surgery (MGB) and that the Actigall probably actually helped make them smaller. She also has had some nausea and vomiting. She had an endo done and found out that that she has gastritis. They believe that this was a problem from her gall bladder and not the MGB. She had a severe infection from her gall stones and they believe this is what irritated the stomach lining. She also has diriticulosis(sp?). This also is not related to the MGB. This is an inflamation in the bowels that would have happened with or without the MGB. My Mom is almost 9 months post-op and she still cannot eat beef. She also has problems with pasta. Her experience has not been the greatest, but she says she would do it again in a heart beat. As for how much she has lost.... she started at 340 on 4/20/00, yesterday 12/28/00 she wieghed 212. Her weight loss has been faster than most because of all of the other problems she has had. I am glad to report though that she is eating well now and hasn't had any vomiting for 3 weeks. (It had gotten to be a daily thing.) Carafate is her friend right now! If you have any other questions you would like to ask her directly just e-mail her at debbiej@... and she will respond.
