Guest guest
Hi All, I just saw a post on how hard it can be to cut up squash, so I have a tip. I bought a rubber mallet at the hardware store for a couple dollars. I use it to tap on the knife to cut the squash. The squash cuts easily and my fingers are nowhere near the blade. I remember some near misses before I used the mallet -- yikes it can be dangerous! Also, I've found it easier to peel the butternut squash with a wide blade peeler before I cut it up and cook it. I think it's easier then scooping out the squash out of the peel after it's cooked and I think there's less waste, too. It's also saved me from a few burns as I've tried to scoop the squash when they're really hot. Sharon
