Guest guest
Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a while, but I need some help! I have been having a lot of problems having regular bowel movements since becoming pregnant. Unfortunatly it seems to be getting worse. My body seems to have a pattern of no bm for 5-6 days. Then I will get **very** bad cramps which will be followed by diaherra. This cycle has been going on for at least a month. I have been eating a very high fiber cereal every morning (which used to help...but no more). I have been drinking **tons** of water and I am now eating a salad a day to add some roughage to the diet. I saw my OB last week who advised me to continue with my eating habits and also prescribed me a stool softener which I have been taking for a week. They have had --no-- effect. I called them yesterday to see if I could take milk of magnesia since that is recommended in my pregnancy book, but the nurse said that milk of mag is a " very strong laxative " and to avoid it. Has anyone had this prob? What more can I do? I can't imagine this continuing until March! Oh yeah, I am on heparin shots due to previous pulmonary embolism....but I don't think that would affect my intestines right? Thanks, Sasha Lap RNY 7/9/03 Currently 19 weeks preg w/1st baby (just found out it is a boy) Due date March 25, 2005
